This backyard was basically a dirt lot. Patchy, dry, bare ground - no real grass to speak of. That's exactly the kind of yard that needs a fresh start, not another round of seeding and hoping for the best. Sod is the right call when you want real results without waiting months to see if anything grows.
Here's what we were working with before we got started: hard-packed sandy soil, scattered dead patches, and almost nothing worth saving. The ground prep phase is critical and it's where a lot of people cut corners. We made sure the surface was properly cleared and ready to accept new sod before a single piece went down.
For the sod itself, we sourced quality turf from Vandemark Farms Sod out of Whitakers, NC. Using locally grown sod matters more than people realize. It's already conditioned to handle the North Carolina climate, which gives it a much better shot at establishing strong roots quickly. That's not something you get with just any sod supply.
The install covers the full backyard - right up to the fence line, around the deck, and along the shed. Every piece was laid tight and flat, working around the existing landscaping and hardscape edges throughout the yard. What you end up with is a clean, green, healthy-looking backyard that actually feels usable again.
Sod installation done right gives a yard an instant reset. No waiting on seed germination, no bare spots to babysit. Just solid, established grass from day one. We're proud of how this one came together and we're just getting started.
