Weeds taking over your beds is one of those things that sneaks up on you. One season you're on top of it, and the next the whole bed is a tangled mess - weeds pushing through old mulch, random growth sprawling everywhere, and the whole front of the house looking rough. That's exactly what we were working with here.

We started by clearing out all the weed growth that had taken over the beds along the front porch and side of the house. Weed control is the foundation of any good bed cleanup. If you skip that step and just throw fresh mulch on top, the problem comes right back. We made sure the beds were clean before anything else went down.

Once the beds were cleared out, we laid down fresh dark mulch and worked it in neatly around the existing plants and rock border. The stone edging was already in place - it just needed the bed behind it to be cleaned up and filled in properly. Fresh mulch does a lot of work. It locks in moisture, slows new weed growth, and gives everything a finished look that ties the whole yard together.

The difference between a messy bed and a clean one isn't always about adding new plants or doing a major overhaul. Sometimes it's just about getting the weeds out, putting down fresh mulch, and letting the existing landscaping do its job. This home had good bones - it just needed the cleanup work to let them show.

Clean beds make the whole lawn look more intentional. When the mulch is fresh and the edges are defined, even a simple yard looks sharp. That's the kind of detail that actually matters when you pull up to your own house - or when someone else does.
