Mulch beds are one of those things that look fine for a season or two - then the weeds move in, the edges get sloppy, and suddenly it feels like a never-ending chore just to keep things looking decent. That's exactly the kind of situation where switching to rock makes a lot of sense.

Here's what we did on this one: we laid landscaping fabric first to cut down on weed growth underneath, then installed white river rock across the full bed. We also set the bed edging to give everything a clean, defined border that holds the rock in place and separates it sharply from the lawn. To finish it off, we trimmed up the shrubs so the whole front looked pulled together.

The edging detail is something that makes a big difference. Without it, rock beds tend to creep and scatter over time. With a solid edge installed right, the line stays clean and the rock stays put - a lot less work for the homeowner down the road.

Rock beds like this aren't just about looks. Less watering, no mulch to replace every year, and way fewer weeds working through. It's one of the better low-maintenance upgrades you can make to a front yard, and it holds up well season after season.

We handle everything from the fabric and rock install to the edging and plant trimming - so you're not left trying to piece it together yourself. If your beds are overdue for something that actually stays looking good, this is worth considering.
