Sometimes a yard just gets away from you. Ornamental grass that looked great a few years ago has now turned into a wall of overgrowth - spilling out of the bed, flopping onto the lawn, and taking over the whole corner. That's exactly what we were working with here. A massive clump of miscanthus grass had grown completely out of control near the pool fence, blocking sightlines and making the whole back area feel messy no matter how clean the rest of the yard was.

We pulled it out and replaced the visual gap with fresh shrubs planted along the fence line. The goal was to soften that area without creating another maintenance headache. The new plantings are low and tidy - they screen the pool equipment naturally without turning into the next overgrowth problem five years from now. That's the kind of thinking we put into every shrub planting we do.

Around the front and sides of the house, we went through every bed and gave all the existing shrubs a sharp trim. Rounded boxwoods, cone-shaped hollies, golden euonymus along the fence - each one got cleaned up and shaped so the whole property reads as intentional and put together. It's one of those things where the individual pieces aren't dramatic, but when every shrub is trimmed and every bed is tidy, the whole yard just clicks.

Little details matter a lot. A neatly trimmed shrub line along the foundation makes the house look more polished. Freshly shaped bushes flanking the pool deck make the outdoor space feel more like a retreat and less like something that needs attention. When all of it comes together - new shrubs, trimmed beds, cleared-out overgrowth - you end up with a yard that actually feels finished.
